The
Swifts reserves had six changes to their standing line up this week
but it did not seem to matter as they registered an impressive home
win.
Gabriel Valarino gave the Swifts a fifth minute lead and the home
side were always in control from then on.
Joe Alves nipped in to stroke home the second goal and then slid
in at the back post to convert a cross for the third goal of the
game.
Jason Collins then added the next two goals, the second a nicely
angled shot just before half time to give the Swifts a fair reward
for their endeavours.
The Swifts also dominated the second half absorbing the Claudelands
forays comfortably and mounting attack after attack. The finishing
was not as clinical but the chances were there as their short passing
and use of pace on the flanks proved effective.
Claudelands keeper could not handle Neil Wiseman's effort at the
near post for the Swifts sixth goal while Jono Monteith was on hand
to volley in the Swifts seventh after earlier efforts had struck
the crossbar and grazed the upright.
Valarino and Nicolas Sandoval were again creative in midfield with
Bevan Shelley pushing up from centre back to give the Swifts the
extra man going forward.
Sandoval was unlucky to have a goal ruled out for offside after
a good build up.
Andrew Monteith was solid at the back and Matthew Monteith did well
when he came on for his league debut for the Swifts.
The Swifts player of the day was Joseph Dew at an unfamiliar right
back position who had a good tussle with his opposite.
