The
Swifts made it three wins out of three as they battled to a narrow
win in Hamilton on Saturday. Intermittent showers during the game
made for a greasy playing surface which in turn led to a decline
in the standard of football from previous weeks as passes went astray.
The Swifts started the game brightly enough with Neil Wiseman grabbing
his seventh goal of the season and Rodrigo Navarro finishing a good
move to give the Swifts a comfortable two goal lead at half time.
The second half saw the Swifts under a lot more pressure as the
home side adopted the more direct route of play. Julio Medina and
Navarro went close with efforts in the second half but the Swifts
struggled to kill the game off.
The Swifts experienced back line of Marcelo Marquez, Peter Challis,
Bevan Shelley, Andrew Monteith and Chris Bedford coped well with
most events, they had some luck with Wanderers hitting the post
but the home side had their luck when they took advantage of a slip
up in the Swifts defence to close the scores.
This led to a tense final eight minutes before the Swifts could
claim the win.
Player of the day was Peter Challis at the heart of the defence
with another uncompromising display.
