Match Report

First of all I would like to give a big welcome to Matamata Car Painters, as they have most generously come on board to sponsor our Player of the Day. Thank you .

The game vs. SURFC had a starting line up of all of our new payers. Roxanne Hansen, Anne-Marie Standring, Jaimee Morgan, Ashley Ferguson and Sarah Monteith. All of these players proved themselves to be valuable members of this team and fitted in well together. Roxanne and Anne-Marie were put into the back line, Jaimee and Ashley were on either wing in the mid field and Sarah up front at Striker.

At the start of the game Matamata had to face a big decision. SURFC were unable to field an entire team with having only 9 players. Not wanting to have an unfair advantage Matamata players volunteered to boost up the numbers of the SURFC team.

As the score line shows it was not to be a very hard defensive game and the mid and attackers had a lot of the workload up front. This saw a lot of great passes and communication between our players. Full credit has to be givin to SURFC as they never gave up and the goals that were scored did not come easy.

The Goals were scored by, Nat Gaskell - 6, Sarah Monteith - 5, Elena Dimcia - 4 and Kerrie McVeigh -2.

Our player of the day went to Anne-Marie Standring who played at centre back. Anne-Marie did really well and managed to disrupt the SURFC Strikers plenty of times.

From last weeks game Matamata's standing on the table is at the top with a 6 goal advantage. Also thanks to all those people who braved the horrible weather to come and support us!

There is no game next week with it being Easter. On the 23rd April Matamata is playing away at Morrinsville.
