The
Matamata Club Swifts Reserves notched a second consecutive victory
following their best performance of the season against Claudelands
Rovers reserves.
Two late goals from centre forward, Jono Monteith, capped an excellent
game up front for the young speedster. Monteith's pace and strength
meant he was a constant menace to the visiting defenders.
The back three of Nickco Kampshof, Pete Challis and Chris Bedggood
performed admirably for Matamata. They had to be strong against
their experienced opponents and, aided by Richard Paradizo in goal
and the experienced Eric Van Waveran sitting just in front, held
firm. Mike Collins and Allan Ferreira were good in midfield feeding
the impressive Monteith up front.
After a shaky start the reserves have now got their season well
and truly underway. A settled line-up and a more cohesive game plan
are leading to more consistent performances and better results for
the side.
